Connect the moving parts
A one-page model can describe who buys, what they receive, how the company reaches them and what delivery costs. Include the people and suppliers the service depends on. Resist replacing this work with a collection of slogans. For an industry-facing business, a useful model also identifies the customer segment and the specific location or operating context in which its assumptions apply.
Use the model as a working document
Label estimates as estimates and record the date of the evidence behind them. The first version should make gaps visible rather than create an impression of certainty. Review it after customer interviews, supplier quotations or a pilot project. When one assumption changes, trace the effect on the others: a longer onboarding process may change staffing, pricing and the period before payment arrives.
A short working checklist
- State the customer, deliverable and route to market.
- Show the main delivery costs and dependencies.
- Keep assumptions separate from confirmed information.
